John Lee currently instructs several marching bands in Indiana, including 2008, 2009, and 2010 ISSMA state champion Western Panther Band, the Lawrence Central Spirit of Central, and the Lawrence North Regime. Born and raised in California, John has been exposed to stellar band and choir programs since middle school. He played and marched the trumpet and euphonium with the Foothill High School marching band and was awarded "Most Outstanding Musician" upon graduating.

While attending UCSD, John performed and sung with the Tritones a’cappella group, serving temporarily as its director. He also kept his schedule busy with the La Jolla Symphony Orchestra and Choir, performing across Southern California in various celebratory church events and premieres.

John served as the 2008 Blue Devils 'B' drum major and was awarded "Blue Devil of the Year" after a highly successful second-place season.  He then served his second year as drum major with the 2009 DCI Champion Concord Blue Devils.

John marched his age-out year as a drum major of the 2010 Madison Scouts and was the recipient of the DCI Jim Jones Leadership Award.
